Venusaur --Rainy day Review-- 003

Venusaur! My pride and joy

Well, this guy here is a Grass/Poison type, meaning he has something up his sleeve as far as typing, he gets neutral damage from fire in the rain, which gets to be epic! Giving him a serious edge, although water moves also become neutral to him, which sucks.

So, lets start with Physical on this guy.

Venusaur (M) @ Black Sludge

Trait: Overgrow

EVs: 252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 Def or 136 Sp Def

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Curse / Swords Dance
- Seed Bomb / Power Whip / Bullet Seed
- Earthquake
- Leech Seed / Ingrain / Grass Whistle / Sleep Powder

You have your attack boosting move of choice, Curse or Swords dance, while Curse offers more bulk Swords Dance offers straight up power. If you choose curse go with Sp Def Ev's.
Physical Damaging Grass move of your choice, I prefer Bullet Seed.
Earthquake is earthquake. And a support move, now the crappy part is, even though you get that cool crap resistance in the rain, you lose good healing from Synthesis :'/

Physical doesn't get much rain support, so lets check out Special now.

Venusaur (M) @ Black Sludge

Trait: Overgrow

EVs: 136 Def / 252 SAtk / 120 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Hidden Power [Water]
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Leech Seed / Sleep Powder

This is a much more set in stone type of set, not too many variables.

HP Water gets rain support, and covers fire types well, it basically gets STAB in the rain, so it's a nice thing to have around. Giga Drain gets a bunch of your health back, because to be honest, You need it. Sludge Bomb can poison your opponent, 30% chance, which is nice with your last move. Leech Seed, although you can use Sleep Powder as well if you're a sleep hax lover.

So, as you can see. Venusaur doesn't do super great in the rain, not too much support.

Rating for the rain - 5/10
