Salamence -- Rainy day Review -- 373

Salamence! Who said Dragonite was the only dragon who had a place in the rain? Well, nobody. Because Kingdra has swift swim. But Salamence does great in the rain too! Got Hydro Pump in that list of possible moves for him, so he should do fine in the rain.

Special:

Salamence (M) @ Leftovers

Trait: Intimidate

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef

Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) / Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk )

- Tailwind
- Iron Defense / Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- Mud-Slap / Roost

My standard for a SupportMence right here.
Tailwind doubles your whole teams speed for a few turns, which is super great to have for any team, Iron Defense to increase lasting bulk, or your pick of Dragon move. Hydro Pump gets a boost in the rain, making it even beastier, and Mud Slap can pull some annoying Accuracy tricks, or Roost can keep you alive. Intimidate makes up for the lack of physical bulk.

Physical:

Salamence (M) @ Wide Lens

Trait: Intimidate

EVs: 252 Atk / 64 SDef / 192 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Dragon Dance
- Aqua Tail
- Zen Headbutt
- Dragon Rush

Sorry for no Moxie set, but this is the best physical rain set to go for.
Wide Lens gives some accuracy boosters, making Dragon Rush much more acceptable, Zen Headbutt near perfect ( Like 99% ) and Same goes for Aqua Tail, which also gets a boost in the rain, making a great dragon dance sweeper, who can add some great coverage to any rain team.

Overall, Salamence doesn't really get the best use in the rain, and is greatly outclassed by Dragonite, but he's a cool way to mix things up every now and then, if you don't like being the expected.

Rating in the rain - 5.5/10
